Practicum Application Reviews and Professional Liability Insurance – Update

21 Spring / Summer Practicum Applicants & Students

Hello students,

I hope you are all doing well.

We are projecting a record Practicum start for 21S term with having received over 400 practicum applications.  As such, all members of the field training team are very busy and engaged in completeness and viability reviews of every practicum application.  Once a student’s practicum application has successfully completed those reviews, then the Director of Field Training, Dr. Kippers conducts a final review with signature.  Students will receive an email directly from Dr. Kippers indicating approval or denial of the practicum application.

For those of you who have been working on providing supporting application documents, such as your professional liability insurance, criminal record check, proof of immunizations and mask fittings, you will have the option to submit these documents during week 1 in the PSYC7113 course, as non-graded assignments.  You are required to submit evidence of your professional liability insurance for Practicum and any site required documentation.  Those documents will need to be submitted as a PDF or Word document attachment in the PSYC7113 course; no other format will be accepted.  You cannot work with your clients at your Practicum site if these documents are not submitted on or before Sunday, Week 1.

If you have already submitted the professional liability insurance coverage facesheet and any site required supporting documents, then you will have the option in the PSYC7113 course to enter a statement to the non-graded assignments indicating you have already submitted those required items during the application process.

Students should not see clients until the Professional Liability Insurance has been uploaded to this assignment or it has been submitted through the application process. If the required items are not submitted by the End of Week 1, then the site placement will be terminated, or the student will be withdrawn from the Practicum Course.
